SOUL OUTDOOR

Draw me a light... Fiat lux with Soul, a series of six plaster lamps to be placed as wall sconces, to scrutinize as one enters at dusk into an obscure alley suddenly pierced by an unreal ray of light. Narrative elements of a memoir, these landscapes of curiosity give designer Charles Kalpakian, a talent-star of the Parisian gallery BSL, versed in working with metal, stone, bronze, lacquer, or velvet, the opportunity to mold plaster in his workshop. From this vernacular and humble material, he cast six figures resembling Etruscan masks. In the pure white of the matrix material, he added or not, a layer of gold leaf to sublime the backlighting of each lamp.
